Culture Wise Nutrition

Serving Wheaton, the Western Suburbs & Beyond

Access to nourishing food and engaging, culturally tailored nutrition education programs are available to support the identified needs of refugee and immigrant communities.

Challenges

  • More salt, sugary, processed foods
  • Increased health problems within several years after arriving such as Type 2 Diabetes, high blood pressure, metabolic syndrome
  • Less time to cook traditional meals
  • Limited access to culturally relevant foods
  • Unfamiliarity with Western foods in food pantries
  • Transportation and financial barriers

Mission

To equip immigrant and refugee communities through culturally tailored food and nutrition education that builds confidence, increases knowledge, supports optimal health, and fosters belonging.

.

Through culturally rooted workshops, classes, and community partnerships, I help families navigate the U.S. food system, adapt familiar dishes with accessible ingredients, and build confidence in nourishing themselves in ways that feel both healthy and culturally meaningful.
